Scott Brodie
Scott is a Director of Horse Aid, and Director of the Thoroughbred and Veteran Welfare Alliance. Following an extensive career with the NSW Mounted Police including time as a horse trainer, he followed his love of horses to become a classically trained rider and qualified instructor with the Equestrian Federation of Australia.
With many years of experience in the art of ‘Natural Horsemanship’ Scott took this one step further and embarked upon the retraining of retired racehorses. Using his skill and and practical methods he works with the most challenging horses retraining them after a career on the race track to that of a riding horse; an opportunity for hundreds of ex-racehorses to lead purposeful lives.
Scott saw the similarities between the thoroughbred horse and uniquely skilled veterans to develop his program of equine assisted therapy via the Thoroughbred and Veterans Welfare Alliance and with the support of funding now offers programs to veterans and first responders via Horse Aid.

Jo Barron
Co-founder and fellow Director Jo has had a life long passion for horses, starting as a pony mad girl growing up in England. Jo has a decade in corporate community project management, including veterans and family support projects, STEM education programs and employee drives to support communities in need.
Jo is thrilled to be able to combine both her love of horses and to being able to help people. Her search to take up riding again after more than just a few years out of the saddle, combined with a desire to learn more about ‘natural horsemanship’ led her to Scott Brodie’s yard in Helensburgh. The rest they say is history and Horse Aid was borne out of a desire to help expand the program using her community experience and Scott’s horsemanship skills.
Jo is also currently studying for her Diploma in Counselling to further aid those in need to help, and is a Community Volunteer with Legacy.
